Message: A Walk that Pleases God
Text: Gen 5:21-24
21 And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah: 22 and Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: 23 and all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years: 24 and Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.
Intro: Doctors say, that one of the fastest ways to get into shape is to start a walking regiment. There are many benefits when you start walking regularly,
1) You strengthen your heart, bones, and
2) it improves your brain function and improves your overall fitness.
Well, just like walking is good naturally, spiritually walking with God is even better. And in order to reap spiritual benefits, we must be people that have a regular walking regiment with God.
Today we want to learn about the man named Enoch. His entire life after his conversion was spent walking with God.
Scripture declares twice that "Enoch walked with God" (Genesis 5:22, 24).
• Walking means forward movement, steady progress.
• Enoch did not walk a little and then stop or turn aside, backsliding.
• He was not fluctuating up and down.
• Enoch was genuine through and through;
• He was steadfast and persevering.
• He walked with God consistently, growing and growing more and more.
What does it mean "to walk with God"? Well, the life of Enoch shows us 5 things.
1. To "walk with God" means that Enoch had a conversion experience.
• Enoch was born to sinful parents in a sinful world just like everybody else.
• From all indications Enoch had been living a sinful, wicked life, running around with the ungodly crowd of his day.
• But something happened in his life that changed him, that caused him to confess and repent of his sin
• Something happened that stirred him to begin to live a life of self-control and self-denial. What was it?
• Scripture says this: "Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah" (Genesis 5:22).
• Scripture seems to be saying that it was after his son's was born he
began to walk with God.
• Apparently, the birth of his first son struck Enoch, struck him with a deep, intense sense of responsibility for the child.
• Enoch was convicted...
• of his sinful, ungodly life
• of his duty to provide a godly home for his son and
any other children who might come.
• of his duty to lead his son to trust and follow God
and to believe God's Word and promise to send the
Savior into the world.
Just Like Us:
• We ought to be convicted of our sin, and ungodliness
• we ought to be convicted, so that we will provide a godly home for our sons and daughter to live in
• we ought to be convicted so that we can lead our sons & daughter to trust and follow God
What did Enoch do when God convicted him of these things?
He did what anybody who has been convicted by the Holy Spirit does… Confess & Repent
• Enoch repented, changed his life, and turned back to God.
• He turned away from sin and began to live for God.
• He began to live a life of self-denial and self-control.
2. To "walk with God" means to believe God and to be diligent in seeking after God's promises. The passage in the book of Hebrews shows this:
By faith Enoch...pleased God. But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him" (Hebrews 11:5-6).
Note what Enoch believed and what we must believe:
⇒ Enoch believed that God is,
• That He truly exists,
• That He is the only living and true God,
• The true Creator and Sustainer of the universe,
• The Lord and Master of life.
⇒ Enoch believed that
• God rewards those who diligently seek after Him.
3. To "walk with God" means to develop an unbroken communion and fellowship with God. The phrase means to walk about with God, to live with God, to have the most intimate fellowship and communion with God.
⇒ Enoch sought to keep his mind and thoughts upon God and upon the things that are true and profitable.
"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things" (Phil. 4:8).
⇒ Enoch sought to cast down every imagination and to captivate every thought for God.
"Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ" (2 Cor. 10:5).
⇒ Enoch sought to keep his mind upon God.
"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee" (Isaiah 26:3).
⇒ Enoch sought to pray always, to walk and live in a spirit of prayer, all day long.
"And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint" (Luke 18:1).
4. To "walk with God" means to live a holy and godly life, a life of separation, a life that is completely different from the sinful lives of others.
• It doesn’t mean you have to become a nun or a mock…but it does mean living a life of self-control
The whole idea is that:
Enoch quit doing things that were sinful, wicked, evil, and ungodly.
Enoch started doing thing that were pure, righteous, good, and godly.
5. To "walk with God" means to bear a strong witness and testimony for God.
"And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, to execute judgement upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him" (Jude 14-15).
He bears a strong witness and testimony for God! Thus he walked a walk that pleased God!
• The Scripture never command us to skip with God
• The Scriptures never command us to run with God
• The Scripture never command us to drive with God
• But the Scripture do command us to walk with God
1) Noah walked with God.
"Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God" (Genesis 6:9).
2) Abraham was required to walk before God.
"And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect" (Genesis 17:1).
3) We are all required to walk with God.
"He hath showed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?" (Micah 6:8).
4) We are to walk before God.
"I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living" (Psalm 116:9).
5) We are to walk after God.
"Ye shall walk after the LORD your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him" (Deut. 13:4).
6) We are to follow God and walk in love.
"Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; and walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour" (Ephes. 5:1-2).
7) We are to walk in Christ.
“As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him" (Col. 2:6).
We are to walk by faith, not by sight.
"For we walk by faith, not by sight" (2 Cor. 5:7).
9) We are to walk in light.
"But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin" (1 John 1:7).
10) We are to walk in truth.
"For thy lovingkindness is before mine eyes: and I have walked in thy truth" (Psalm 26:3).
11) We are to walk in newness of life.
"Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life" (Romans 6:4).
12) We are to walk in the Spirit.
“This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh" (Gal. 5:16).
13) We are to walk worthy of our calling and vocation.
"I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called" (Ephes. 4:1).
14) We are to walk carefully.
"See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise" (Ephes. 5:15).
15) We are to pray for God to keep us from stumbling and falling that we may walk before Him.
“For thou hast delivered my soul from death: wilt not thou deliver my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living?" (Psalm 56:13).
16) We are to walk as Christ walked.
"He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked" (1 John 2:6).
17) We shall walk with Christ in heaven and be clothed in white (purity, perfection).
"Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy" (Rev. 3:4).
Note that Enoch had a large family of both sons and daughters (Genesis 5:22). A person can "walk with God"—have a close fellowship and communion with God—and be a strong minister and still be married.
Note what Scripture says: "He was not" (enennu) or "He was no more" (NIV) or "He was seen no more" (NEB). Scripture simply means that Enoch was translated—transferred from earth to heaven, to be with God. Enoch was transferred right into the presence of God without ever dying. The New Testament clearly tells us this:
"By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him [taken him up]: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God" (Hebrews 11:5).
Now, why did God translate Enoch so that he should not experience death?
Enoch had apparently gained an unbroken consciousness of God's presence, an unbroken fellowship and communion with God
Enoch's "walk with God" had become so intimate and intense,
⇒ and Enoch longed so much for face to face fellowship with God...
...that God just could not leave him upon earth any longer.
Thought 1. "He did not live like the rest, so he did not die like the rest" (Matthew Henry's Commentary,
God translated Enoch to be an encouragement to other believers, both in his ungodly day and ours. God proved His promise and power to give eternal life.
Enoch should stir us to press on, to believe God more strongly than ever before and to be stand fast.
"Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord" (1 Cor.15;58)

Why is the Sabbath Important?
by Pastor John J. Tatum
We have been taught that Jesus changed the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday…
Gen 1:1-5
1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. 4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. 5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
• God is creating
• God is speaking
• And through the darkness he speaks Let there be light and there was light…
• And the evening and the morning were considered the first day, by God…
• Notice that God never had any names for the day. He only called it The First day…
So the Sabbath of the Lord starts Friday at Sundown and ends Saturday at Sundown
Gen 2:1-3 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. 2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. 3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
• He rested from his work
• He blessed the seventh day
• He sanctified- He set it apart, from every other day
Some people will say that the Sabbath day was under the Ceremonial Laws of God… That is Not true…
Let go to the Commandments… If you can read it, then you can believe it
Ex 20:8 8 Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
• This Commandment start off with “Remember”, and all of the other commandment start off with “Thy Shall Not”…
• What has our society tell us to Forget the Sabbath day…Just the opposite!
• The reason why it says remember, is because it had already been established in the beginning of Creation…
Now let see who is doing the talking or giving the instruction…
Ex 20:1-2 1 And God spake all these words, saying, 2 I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage
• The Lord spake…Not Moses
Psalms 89:34 34 My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.
• God will never alter anything that has gone out of his lips…
Mal 3:6 6 For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.
• God is letting us know that he does not change-alter, modify, vary, adjust, or amend
Ex 20:9-11 9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: 10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God:
• He said the Seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God
…In it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
• When did he make the heaven and the earth, he did that back in creation
• So this 4th commandment is taking us back to creation, and telling us to “Remember”…
• He blessed the 7th day and hallowed it… Never did he bless the 1st day or set it apart…
Let see who doing the talking, because this is Not the Law of Moses, but of the Most high…
Ex 31:12-16 12 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 13 Speak thou also unto the children of Israel…
• Notice he didn’t say speak to the Muslims, or to the Christians, Buddhist, or Roman Catholic Church… But to Israel…
…Saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations;
• The Sabbath day is the purist sign, in this perverse and wick generation, That we are his people, set apart, for his use…
• How Long? Throughout your generations…
…That ye may know that I am the LORD that doth sanctify you.
• He has sanctify you, set us apart…
14 Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you: every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death: for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people.
15 Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD: whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.
• This is a day of rest… we worship everyday…
16 Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant.
• For a perpetual covenant…continuous, everlasting, uninterrupted, unending, permanent…
Isaiah 56:2 2 Blessed is the man that doeth this, and the son of man that layeth hold on it; that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and keepeth his hand from doing any evil.
• You are blessed when you keep the Sabbath from polluting it…
• How can you polluted it?
1. Not remembering it
2. Not resting
3. Not keeping it Holy
Isaiah 56:5-7 5 Even unto them will I give in mine house and within my walls a place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off. 6 Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the LORD, to serve him, and to love the name of the LORD, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant; Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people.
Neh 13:15-22 15 In those days saw I in Judah some treading wine presses on the sabbath, and bringing in sheaves, and lading asses; as also wine, grapes, and figs, and all manner of burdens, which they brought into Jerusalem on the sabbath day: and I testified against them in the day wherein they sold victuals. 16 There dwelt men of Tyre also therein, which brought fish, and all manner of ware, and sold on the sabbath unto the children of Judah, and in Jerusalem. 17 Then I contended with the nobles of Judah, and said unto them, What evil thing is this that ye do, and profane the sabbath day? 18 Did not your fathers thus, and did not our God bring all this evil upon us, and upon this city? yet ye bring more wrath upon Israel by profaning the sabbath. 19 And it came to pass, that when the gates of Jerusalem began to be dark before the sabbath, I commanded that the gates should be shut, and charged that they should not be opened till after the sabbath: and some of my servants set I at the gates, that there should no burden be brought in on the sabbath day. 20 So the merchants and sellers of all kind of ware lodged without Jerusalem once or twice. 21 Then I testified against them, and said unto them, Why lodge ye about the wall? if ye do so again, I will lay hands on you. From that time forth came they no more on the sabbath. 22 And I commanded the Levites that they should cleanse themselves, and that they should come and keep the gates, to sanctify the sabbath day. Remember me, O my God, concerning this also, and spare me according to the greatness of thy mercy.
Luke 4:16
16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.
• It was his custom to go to the synagogue on the Sabbath
Mark 2:23-28 23 And it came to pass, that he went through the corn fields on the sabbath day; and his disciples began, as they went, to pluck the ears of corn. 24 And the Pharisees said unto him, Behold, why do they on the sabbath day that which is not lawful? 25 And he said unto them, Have ye never read what David did, when he had need, and was an hungred, he, and they that were with him? 26 How he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and did eat the shewbread, which is not lawful to eat but for the priests, and gave also to them which were with him? 27 And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath: 28 Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.
• He is Lord of the Sabbath, he made it and told you what day it was
After the ascent of Christ
Acts 13:14 14 But when they departed from Perga, they came to Antioch in Pisidia, and went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and sat down.
Acts 13:27 27 For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read every sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in condemning him.
Acts 13:42 42 And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next Sabbath…
Acts 13:43-45 43 Now when the congregation was broken up, many of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.
44 And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God. 45 But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and spake against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming.
Acts 15:21 21 For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath day.
Acts 16:13 13 And on the sabbath we went out of the city by a river side, where prayer was wont to be made; and we sat down, and spake unto the women which resorted thither.
Acts 17:2 2 And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures…
Acts 18:3-4 3 And because he was of the same craft, he abode with them, and wrought: for by their occupation they were tentmakers. 4 And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.
Apologetics- This is one of the scripture they used to justified Sunday…
Col 2:8 8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
Col 2:14-15 14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; 15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
Ex 31:18 18 And he gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God.
• There is a difference between the hand of man or Moses and the finger of God
Col 2:16 16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days…
• Don’t let no man judge you in meat, because you don’t eat swine, catfish or shrimp
• Don’t let no man judge you in drink
• Don’t let no man judge respect of holyday or new moons or a Sabbath days… don’t let anyone judge you…

Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou [then], Shew us the Father?
Why did Jesus always make reference to the Father?
PHILIPPIANS 2:6-8
Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
1 John 3:1-4
3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
1 John 3:1-4
4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
1 John 3:8-10
8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
1 John 3:8-10
9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. 10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
Psalms 119:9-16
9 Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.
10 With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments.
11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
Psalms 119:9-16
12 Blessed art thou, O Lord: teach me thy statutes.
13 With my lips have I declared all the judgments of thy mouth.
14 I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies, as much as in all riches.
Psalms 119:9-16
15 I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways. 16 I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word.

Only YHWH Knows The Heart of Man
JEREMIAH 17:9-10
The heart [is] deceitful above all [things], and desperately wicked: who can know it?
I YHWH search the heart, [I] try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, [and] according to the fruit of his doings.
REVELATION 2:23
And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.

Message: Righteous People Living by Faith
Text: Hab. 2:4
"Behold the proud, his soul is not upright in him; but the just shall live by his faith."
Rom 1:17
17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith…
Hebrew 10:38
Now the[a] just shall live by faith; But if anyone draws back, My soul has no pleasure in him.”
Intro; This is one of the greatest declaration in the Bible…That righteous people live by one way and one way only and that is a life of faith and trust in God.
This is what separate “The body of Christ” from all other groups, is that we understand that God has a way of life or a system in which we live by… And that way is called Faith.
· We don’t live by our Feeling or Emotion
· We don’t live by other people experiences
· We don’t live by what it looks like
· We only live by faith…
Who are the Just or Righteous?
Romans 5:6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
The just or the Righteous:
1. Were people at one time…That were without strength …
§ We were Without strength: refers to people who were spiritually weak, worthless, useless, helpless, hopeless, destitute, & powerless.
§ We were ungodly: refers to not like God, different from God, profane, having a different life-style than God.
§ God is godly, that is, perfect; man is ungodly, that is, he is not like God; he is imperfect
§ But Christ died for them…
· Christ died as our sacrifice
· Christ died as our ransom- payment
· Christ died as our propitiation- to gain or regain the favor or goodwill
o A few will die for a just and upright man (righteous).
o Some will even dare to die for a "good" man.
Christ...
• died for the ungodly, for those who were the very opposite of righteous and good.
• He died for those who were "without strength & ungodly":
Who are the righteous and Just?
Rom 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
2. Were sinners, That God proved His love toward
§ Sinner"- refers to a man or woman who is sinful, the man or woman who sins...
• Disobeys God's Word and will for their lives
• They living selfishly.
• They ignoring God's commandments.
• They like doing their own thing.
• The live by the lust of their flesh, the lust of their eyes.
• And by pursuing the pride of life and the things of the world.
Ø God proved His love by giving up His only Son to die for us…
Ø God proves His love by justification through the blood of Christ
Ø God proves His love by saving us from wrath
Point- God sent his son so that we may be able to be called just or justified…
Who are the righteous and Just?
3. Were enemies, but God has reconciled and saved…
Enemies refer to opponent, adversary, foe, rival… the just and the righteous at one time were enemies to God, but have been reconciled back to him.
Reconcile means- to change from enmity to friendship, to bring together, to restore.
We have been restored by:
· Christ's death on the cross
· Christ's life- When we believe in Christ, God takes our belief and counts it as righteousness.
· The Ideal Righteousness of Christ”
· covers us,
· and God accepts us
· and He saves us
Covered, Accepted, & Saved!!!
Who are the righteous and Just, They are the ones that have been covered, accepted ,saved & reconciled.
How do believers live by faith?
What does it mean to live by faith?
It means to do four things—consistently.
1. As believers we should commit our life and problems to God—all day long…
· We are to take the experiences and the problems of the day and commit them to God once-for-all.
· We are to believe that God hears our commitment and gives us the strength to walk triumphantly throughout the day.
· We are to know that God does not like a whining, whimpering child begging and begging for strength when all we are really doing is wallowing around in self-pity.
2. As believers we must deny ourselves.
· The feelings, emotions, and selfishness of our flesh are to be rejected, even ignored if necessary.
· Matt. 16:24 24Then Jesus said to his disciples, "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.
3. As believers we must act as though we have made a commitment to God.
· We has made a commitment, so we are to act like it.
· Our feelings are immaterial.
· We are to act responsibly.
· We are to go ahead and do what we should be doing.
· We are to behave as we should.
4. Then while we as believers are doing what we ought to be doing,
· We are asking God for His grace and strength.
· We should be acknowledging God in all of our ways throughout the whole day.
· We are to walk in prayer all day long, asking forgiveness as we comes short and slips and falls, and praising and thanking God for His eternal mercy and grace.

Message: Abraham's Faith
Text: James 1:22-25
22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. 23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: 24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. 25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
Intro: Today I would like to talk about... Why Abraham's Faith worked for him?...
There are a lot of people who like to sing, and talk about the blessings of Abraham, but they never get any results.
And the reason why they don't get any result by singing and talking about them...
The reason why is, they haven't done what Abraham did ...
They desire what he had:
· The blessing...
· But they don't want to do what he did in order to receive it...
So they stay content with just:
· Singing & talking about The blessing of Abraham
· They are content with just hearing about what he had
· But never coming into a place of possessing it, because they have not combine hearing, with doing...
The scripture in James 1 tell us the effects of people who just hear the word and never do the word...
1. They deceived themselves...Why?
· Just coming week after week to church hearing & Learning the word or even confessing your sins...
· Even though those things are important, doesn't mean that God is accepting you...
⇒ God accepts us because we confess and repent.
Repentance means that we turn away from our sins and turn to God.
God accepts us because we turn to Him and live for Him.
2. They soon forgets what they have heard.
· If we don't practice what we've learn, it soon fades from our memories
· In other words...They have forgotten, and it never becomes a part of our life.
3. Hearing and doing releases the blessing into your life .
Note that the Word of God is called "The perfect law of liberty".
· This means that the Word of God will set a person free from the bondages of sin and death.
· And when you are free from sin and death, you can flow into your new life, the spirit of life that is in Christ...
· But we must continue in his word...
John 15:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
Let me show you in the word of God, Six basic things that Abraham did, That started God's Covenant blessing to flow in his life.
And I am showing you these things, so that you can begin to apply them and put them into action in your life, so that you will get the same result Abraham Got!
Genesis 12:1
1 Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
4 So Abram departed, as the Lord had spoken unto him
1. Abram Listen To God
· He heard and recognize the voice of God
· You must get into a place where you can hear God voice speaking to you.
· Turn off the T.V, Cell phone, computer and get into a quite place to hear...
· Without hearing, faith can't be produce... faith comes by hearing...
· His Voice, His Chose,...when you hear his voice, you can make the right chose
2. Abram Obeyed God
· Obedience-do as you are told, be controlled
· Simple obedience opens the door to extraordinary opportunities...
· Abram departed from everything God wanted him to leave...
· Whatever you are willing to depart from, will always lead to the place that was design for you
Genesis 12:7
7 And the Lord appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the Lord, who appeared unto him.
3. Abram Honored God
· Honor- to show great respect and admiration
· Nothing can ever replace giving honor to whom honor is due
· Abram build an altar to God, this showed God Honor
· And he appeared unto him
· when you learn how to honor God, he will appear ...
Gen 13:7-8
7 And there was a strife between the herdmen of Abram's cattle and the herdmen of Lot's cattle: and the Canaanite and the Perizzite dwelled then in the land. 8 And Abram said unto Lot, Let there be no strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and between my herdmen and thy herdmen; for we be brethren.
4. Abram Avoided Strife
· Strife can be avoided, when we honor God & prefer one another over ourselves
· Abram kept the single bond between Lot and himself... they were brethren
· How good and pleasant it is when brethren dwell together in unity
· Strife never has to be an issue, when we remember that we are the unified body of Christ
Gen 13:9-10
9 Is not the whole land before thee? separate thyself, I pray thee, from me: if thou wilt take the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if thou depart to the right hand, then I will go to the left.
5. Abram was Generous
· Generous-kind, noble, substantial, full- flavored
· I've learned that people will forget what you have said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel
· Abram made his nephew Lot feel special, when he got the first opportunity to chose where he would go.
· Generous is like seed that is planted, and when you sow it, you reap a harvest in return.
Gen 18:23-24
23 And Abraham drew near, and said, Wilt thou also destroy the righteous with the wicked? 24 Peradventure there be fifty righteous within the city: wilt thou also destroy and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that are therein?
6. Abram Was compassionate toward others
· Compassionate People are Caring People
· Abram didn't want to see the righteous destroyed with the wicked
· So he showed compassion by (asking or interceding) to God to spare the city if he could find any righteous people there.
· People who are not afraid to address the needs of people
· People who has God passion being stir up on the inside of them
· People who get busy doing the word, causing God's kingdom to expand in the earth
· If we are going to see the manifestation of what Abraham had in his life...
· Which is the blessing, then we are going to have to do what Abraham did....
These are six basic principle in Abraham life and as we move from being hearers of the word, to doers of the word, we will see the same manifestation Abraham had working in his life, on our lives!

Being Courageous For Christ

Message: Being Courageous For Christ!
Text: Judges 7:7
7 And the LORD said unto Gideon, By the three hundred men that lapped will I save you, and deliver the Midianites into thine hand: and let all the other people go every man unto his place. 8 So the people took victuals in their hand, and their trumpets: and he sent all the rest of Israel every man unto his tent, and retained those three hundred men: and the host of Midian was beneath him in the valley.
Intro: Last week we talked about Gideon, who was called by God to do something courageous.
Just like each every one of us are called to be courageous for God.
The word courageous has to do with being-Brave, daring, bold, gusty, spirited, nerves, audacious, valor
Gideon was a farmer, who wanted to provide for his family, but his country had been invaded, and the hostile invader made it nearly impossible to grow, and gather the resources necessary to provide food for his family.
Gideon didn’t know anything about being courage, because he had a small, weak & least mentality…
He knew that something needed to be done about the Midianites who invaded his land annually; but he was paralyzed by his fear, doubt and a wavering faith.
Point- We all see things that need to be addressed, or dealt with head on in our lives, but because of our own fear,& doubt, we remain silent or on the side line and nothing changes.
• But God want us to be courageous as we deal with the multiplicity of problems that life brings are way.
The bible teaches us that, Gideon was in the wine press, which he also made into a threshing floor, when the Angel of the Lord called him.
In others he was at work or in the midst of work, when the Lord called him. What does this mean to us:
• That God is not calling lazy & nonchalant folks …
• God is not calling for the sluggish or detached folks …
• But, God is calling for people who are obedience, faithful & busy do something…
• Isn’t it amazing the way we look at ourselves, compared to the way God looks at us...
• Gideon was incognito being obedience, faithful and busy, And God took note of what he was doing. He saw him working!
• And he called to him, right in the midst of what he was doing! God is watching!
We have to become people who are Obedience, Faithful & Busy, willing to serve and to work out all of what, God is calling us to do in this place!
There were three objectives that Gideon had to overcome, in order to say Yes to the call of God that was on his life.
1. Gideon had to overcome feelings of responsibility for his family’s welfare-(in others words we can neglect the call of God on our life, when we think that our family’s welfare will be in jeopardy …as if God does care about our family)
2. Gideon had to overcome his on doubts about the call itself- (We must overcome doubt that God would chose us to do something for him).
3. His feelings of inadequacy for the job. - (We must overcome these feeling that say we a not equipped enough for the challenge).
God never calls the qualified but he always qualified the one in whom he calls!
What I want you to understand are the Life Lessons from Gideon Beginning:
• God calls us in the middle of our present obedience’s… As we stay faithful, he gives us more responsibility
• God expands & uses the abilities he has already built into us to fulfill his plans in the earth
• God uses us despite our limitations & failures
• Even when we make great spiritual progress, we can easily fall into sin if we don’t consistently follow God
The Process That leads to Courage:
9 And it came to pass the same night, that the LORD said unto him, Arise, get thee down unto the host; for I have delivered it into thine hand. 10 But if thou fear to go down, go thou with Phurah thy servant down to the host: 11 And thou shalt hear what they say; and afterward shall thine hands be strengthened to go down unto the host. Then went he down with Phurah his servant unto the outside of the armed men that were in the host. 12 And the Midianites and the Amalekites and all the children of the east lay along in the valley like grasshoppers for multitude; and their camels were without number, as the sand by the sea side for multitude. 13 And when Gideon was come, behold, there was a man that told a dream unto his fellow, and said, Behold, I dreamed a dream, and, lo, a cake of barley bread tumbled into the host of Midian, and came unto a tent, and smote it that it fell, and overturned it, that the tent lay along. 14 And his fellow answered and said, This is nothing else save the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel: for into his hand hath God delivered Midian, and all the host. 15 And it was so, when Gideon heard the telling of the dream, and the interpretation thereof, that he worshipped, and returned into the host of Israel, and said, Arise; for the LORD hath delivered into your hand the host of Midian.
• Faith- what he would hear in the enemies camp, would cause faith to be produce
God has a sense of humor…These are the same people in whom Gideon has been hiding from, now he is in their camp, Hearing what they are saying about him, and getting built up in his faith to fight against them. What and unlikely place to get built up in your faith!
• Hands Be Strengthen –why is it important that are hands are strengthen? Look at what we do with our hands…
• We clap with our hands
• We lift our hands
• We worship with our hands
• We lay our hand s on the sick and they recover
• We bind and we loose with our hands
• We touch and agree with our hands
• We anointed with our hands
• We lay our hand on people and they receive the Holy Spirit
So our hands being strengthen has everything to do with our purpose in the earth!
Somebody ought to say…Lord strengthen my hands!
• Worship- Our worship seal… stamp, guarantees, assure, settle, finalize, wrap, confirms… That which we believe! It seals the deal!
• Confession…home loge…
Homologeo- to say the same thing, to agree with, assent… to declare openly,& to speak out freely.
Note God had already said… “The And it came to pass the same night, that the LORD said unto him, Arise, get thee down unto the host; for I have delivered it into thine hand.”
15 And it was so, when Gideon heard the telling of the dream, and the interpretation thereof, that he worshipped, and returned into the host of Israel, and said, Arise; for the LORD hath delivered into your hand the host of Midian.
So Gideon, after it was sealed in worship, he confessed openly, what God had already spoken prior…
• And this was the Last step in the process… He had to confess what the Lord had said about his situation…
See, some of yall are waiting on the Lord, and the Lord is waiting on you to speak what he has already said in his word about your situation… It in your mouth!
Call to action:
Arise in Faith, Arise and be strengthen in your hands, Arise in worship seal the deal, & Arise in confession, speak what he speaks… says the Lord!
The benefits of Jesus Christ Lordship

Luke 6:46-49
And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? 47 Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: 48 He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. 49 But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.
These verses in the book of Luke speak to me about some of the benefits we receive from the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
1) The benefit of stability
Anytime we submit to the Lordship of Jesus, our houses will not be blown away when the winds come, because we have submitted ourselves to him, we are placed on a rock that will not shake or waver, but will be solid and stable.
2) The benefit of security
The word Lord means owner, which mean when we submit our lives to him, he is obligated to take care of us. Just like a land lord takes care of his property, we are the property of the Lord Jesus Christ, and he will take care of us.
3) The benefit of satisfaction
When we continue to surrender to his Lordship we will continually be satisfied with his goodness. We will not be like others that try to get satisfaction by their own efforts, but instead we will find fulfillment in knowing that what we are building for the Lord will stand.
Oh how the Lord satisfies us!

Message: The Role of the Holy Spirit in our lives

St John 14:16-20
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. 18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. 19 Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also. 20 At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.
The Holy Spirit is absolutely crucial to us entering into the Kingdom of God
Holy Spirit- parakletos {par-ak'-lay-tos}
Meaning: 1) Comforter- summoned, called to our side or aid,)
2) Advocate- one who pleads another's cause before a judge, a pleader,
counsel for defense, legal assistant, like an intercessor)
When we have the Holy Spirit living on the inside of us, he leads us into deeper knowledge of the gospel truth, and gives us divine strength needed to enable us to undergo trials and persecutions on behalf of this divine kingdom.
He will be with us forever ( Jo.14:16)
- Its not a temporary feeling
- Its not cooling water
- He is a person, not a feeling
The world at large cannot accept him (Jo.14:17)
- The reason why is because the world at large doesnt accept Jesus
He lives with us and stands with us (Jo.14:17)
- Change their language- speaking in tongues, terminology
- Change their history-old life of sins, new life in Christ
- Change their culture- patterns of human knowledge, belief, and behavior, for a Kingdom culture
He teaches us all things (Jo.14:26)
- Teaches us about everything we need to know (Spirit matter as well as Natural)
He reminds us of Jesus words (Jo.14:26, Jo.15:26)
- His power, promise, provision, protection
He convicts us of sin, shows us Gods righteous, announces God Judgment on evil (Jo.16:8)
- He forces the world, whether or not it wants to, to confess its own unrighteousness and Christ's righteousness and almightiness.
He guide into truth and gives insight into future events (Jo.16:13)
- To lead; to give guidance to
- To announce, to report or to bring back; rehearse
He brings glory to Christ (Jo.16:14)
- The Holy Spirit brings no new doctrine, but teaches that which was uttered by Christ's own mouth, and imprints it in our minds.
The Holy Spirit has been active among people from the beginning of time, but after Pentecost he came to live in all believers
